What’s going on with Window coverings this 2022?

What does this mean?

It means that many of the shade options you may be familiar with such as the traditional top-down bottom-up, or shades controlled by at least one cord, string, or chain will no longer be available for purchase. But this does not mean that all of your favourite window covering options are going away!

Which shades are the best choice in light of this?

Due to these changes in legislation, suppliers all over Canada are working hard to give us some new window shade control options!

Let’s talk about some new, innovative systems that we can use for our shades!

  1. Cordless Lifting systems. These types of lifting/lowering systems look fantastic as they don’t have cords dangling in the window, and they’re much safer. However, they can often be difficult for windows that are hard to reach.

  2. Motorized window coverings: These are a remarkable, convenient, and easy to operate option! They can be controlled on schedules, scenes, directly from your phone, or you can even control them through voice commands.

  3. Wands are also a great option to safely control your blinds without cords. Hunter Douglas' Ultraglide for instance is magnetized and removable, which makes it a very attractive option!
