Tips to organize your closet!

Spring is the perfect time to take care of our mental health, and a fantastic way to start is by getting rid of clutter in our space! Since clothes are extensions of our personalities, it is important that we feel comfortable and good when we open our closet! So, let’s declutter our closets and our minds!

Here are some tips to freshen and organize your closets!

  1. Take everything out of the closets by category- It is easy to get overwhelmed if you take all your clothes out of the closet at once. It is much easier to work on them when they are broken down in the load into categories: shirts, pants, sweaters… Etc.

  2. Try on all your clothes-Yes! Even the scary ones! Trying on everything is a good way to re-discover pieces you used to love and forgot about, and to pinpoint the ones you no longer like or no longer fit. You can also create brand-new outfits you had never thought about! Or decide to retire an outfit that no longer feels like you.

  3. If something doesn’t fit, or you don’t like it anymore-Get rid of it. It’s easy to hold on to clothes that you don’t like anymore or don’t fit. But holding on to these pieces clutters up your closet, and can hide away clothes you are more likely to wear and like!

  4. Once the closet is empty, wipe it down – Take a cloth dipped in soapy water and wipe down your shelves, getting rid of all the dust and grime that has built up over the last year will make your closet shine!

  5. Put everything back by category! Try organizing all your clothes by sections, grouping every category together, so your pieces are easy to spot, and the everyday ones are easy to reach!

  6. Figure out what you need! Now that you know what you have and like, this is a good time to see if there are any pieces you still require! And plan a shopping trip!
